Travel Log Day 1

We left Atlanta Friday night. As expected the airport was a madhouse and we experienced a few difficulties....a very mean check-in agent at American (sorry Kelly, I know they aren't all that way) was the first issue. I let Kent deal with her because I knew if I opened my mouth our luggage would end up in Bangkok!

We got to our gate and were told that we'd be boarding around our departure time of 8:00 but due to air traffic in Chicago, we'd sit on the runway til 10:00! I was really freaked out about this b/c I had no idea how we would entertain Ben for two hours sitting on the runway then another two hours during the flight. While I intially thought the check-in agent was mean...she ended up putting us in a row of three seats with no one between us. This was a lifesaver! At least we had some room for Ben to roll around.

After we'd all boarded and were taxiing to our "parking spot" the captain told us that while they expected delays we were going to take off as planned! Ben did mostly well on the flight. He did get fussy when he got tired and had no place to lay down and wrestle himself to sleep (he is a very restless sleepeer!) . After about 5 minutes of crying he fell asleep in my arms until we landed in Chicago.

We got our luggage without too much issue (other than the sheer quantity & weight of it being difficult to lug around) and made our way to the hotel just inside the airport. Kent and I ordered room service and Ben was wired! It was well after midnight (local time) before he went to sleep (in the bed with me).

The next post will be from London and I am sure will be much more interesting reading!
