We got up super early this morning - 3:45 am London time to get ready for our flight out. Pat and Ed woke up to see us off. I nearly broke into tears when Pat, a mother of four, told me what a great mother I am to Ben. That made my morning!
We left London Heathrow at 8:00 am London time. We requested but were not allowed to get the bassinette for this flight! The mean lady checking us in insisted that Ben was too big, "a toddler" and that it was not safe. I tried to explain that we used the bassinette on the flight over only a week before but she would not budge. So she changed our seat assignments and put us in a row of three and blocked out the middle seat. Of course this worked out much much better and Ben (being in the middle) could climb up either side of the seat. Ben did very well on the flight and we received several compliments from passengers sitting around us about what a great boy he was.
We landed in Chicago around 10 am CST and it is cold here!!! After getting our luggage, going through immigration, going through customs then going through security we made our way to the Admiral's club. I took Ben in to change him and I recognized this lady from our flight. She said to me "oh this is the the fussy baby from the flight." I (being completely insulted) said I didn't think he was too fussy and she said "well I heard him crying." I nearly burst into tears! I wanted to say (but couldn't think on the spot quickly enough) oh you are the bitch from the plane who was mean to the flight attendants. I know I shouldn't let this bother me but Kent and I try to be aware and respectful of the people around us and for her to say that to me really pissed me off! I need to let it go obviously. So here we are in Chicago awaiting our flight to Atlanta which doesn't leave for another 2 1/2 hours. I am hoping the mean lady from our London flight and the bathroom is going to Atlanta, that we sit right beside her and that Ben cries the whole way! Ha! We get back into Atlanta around 6 pm EST. I am sure my body will have no idea what time it is. We've been through 4 different time zones this trip and I am still confused!
